MUFF WIGGLER:: View topic - The Kawai K5 thread -> Goto page 1, Author The Kawai K5 thread Norman_Phay Nothing on my soundcloud, I'll have a trawl thru my computer and see if I can find summat I recorded with it, I did use it a bit back in the day. I have the atari version of the Dr T's ed/lib, as well as the PA-Decoder ed/lib, neither offer sample translation, maybe the PC or mac versions did? TIB It was apparently an atari st program, though Im yet to find the name of it- sketchy info here: Quote: Another feature that I forgot, if you have access to an Atari ST and an Akai S900, there is software available to convert S900 samples into sounds useable by the K5. Of course there are some limitations, but some sounds transfer quite well.
Quote: - There are some softwares that will convert an S900 sample in a patch for the K5. But the sound will be very static since the conversion barely makes an FFT and creates only the harmonics without envs setting Ill continue to google around.
Silicon power armor a65m 1.0tb 2.5 for mac free. TIB Ah, the SoS article states it is the Dr T editor: Quote: Also worth looking out for is the Dr T's Atari program which took Akai S900 samples and analysed them, for subsequent downloading, via MIDI, into the K5 as additive impressions. First seen on the Axcel, this capability would never fool anything but the most untrained ear, but it made for excellent sounds and a great starting point for new sound development. TIB First sounds from the K5M: [s]Lot of processing going on but gives you an idea, these are all single voice patches, Ive not dug in to the multi mode stuff yet. First impressions are that its a pad machine- completely different sound to what Im used to, pitching both parts down low is my favourite thing so far- kinds of reminds me a 12bit sampler the way you can hear all the artefacts clunking around.
Programming is surprisingly alright, no real issues other than a bit of clunkiness. Ive not totally gotten hang of the envelopes on it yet; they dont seem to be doing what I want. Pretty interesting thing though. Ill add more to this once Ive gotten to grips with it some more. Jonah It sounds brighter than the k5000.
